#SeamstressTag .:. Get to know me

The lovely Michelle of That Black Chic tagged me last week to take part on #SeamstressTag. I loved to get to know her a little more, if you don't know about her blog by now, you should deffinetely check it out. She is vera talented and creative and makes amazingand colorful cloth for her daugher, who models for Michelles blog.

So are the answers to Michelles questions:

1) Who are you?
Hi, I’m Stefanie (or Stef), I’m 34 years old and I live with my husband in the South of Germany (near Stuttgart). I studied at Heidelberg University and work now full time in the education field. This year I got married to my favourite person and the photographer of all my blog-pictures @jaundno (usually he takes wildlife photos).

2) When & why did you start sewing?
I started sewing during my University time 2009. It seemed to me, that all students wore the same outfits and I wanted some individual clothes. Besides that I wanted really good fitted cloth, because I’m nearly 6feet/1,80m tall and I couldn’t find a perfect fit in RTW cloth. To be honest I’m still learning to find the perfect fit… but I’m getting closer. My Mom used to sew, too, but we live 100km apart, so I learned sewing mostly on my own. I’ve never attend a sewing class or something like that. I just try to find my own way.

3) What is your favorite or proudest make?
I’m proud of all my makes, you can take a look at my DIY wardrobe here. There you see all my makings.

4) What is your most disastrous make?
Puh, that’s hard to say. I think all my makes are wearable and no disaster at all. But the make I don’t like that much are my older making, mostly because of the fit. As I mentioned I learned sewing on my own, so naturally I made a lot of mistakes in the beginning.

5) Where is your favorite place to go fabric shopping?
Usually I shop my fabrics online, because I can’t find the time to go to the fabric shops. We don’t have that much great fabric shops around and usually I can’t find what I’m looking for. You find all my favourite fabric shops here.

6) What is your most used pattern?
My first ever bought sewing magazine was Burda style (issue 09/2009) and I learned sewing with Burda style patterns. I have no real go-to-pattern, but I used this Burda style T-shirt pattern twice (Burda style 09/2011 #108) and these are my most worn T-shirts ever.

7) Your most dreaded sewing task is...
Definetely button holes… not that these are that difficult, but my sewing machine use to mess up at least one or two button holes and there is nothing more annoying for me then a perfect nearly finished sewing project with badly looking button holes, just because my sewing machine went crazy.

8) And your favorite sewing task?
I love to sew pants. I try to find the perfect fitted pants pattern since 2009 and now I drafted a pattern myself, which fit really nice. For me pants are essential and I tried so many pattern that I don’t even look at the instructions any more. I can sew pants blindfolded.

9) What is your favorite 'sewing entertainment'?
I love to hear audio books while sewing, it’s like I’m in a complete other universe. I love fantasy novels like “Lord of the rings” and “Harry Potter”, but I also love crime thrillers a lot.

10) Printed or PDF?
I prefer PDF patterns. You can get them around the clock with no waiting for the snail mail and I can print them various times. I know a lot of the seamstress out there hate to glue the PDF pages together, but I LOVE it, it’s meditation to me. I love to cut and glue in the evening, when I’m too tired to sew (because when I’m tired, I make mistakes…).

11) What sewing machine do you use?
I have a Pfaff quilt expression 4.0 sewing machine and for serging the Pfaff overlock 4.0, but I’m not quite happy with both. I bought them 2011 and since then they were broken every single year, mostly right before my holidays where I planned to sew… I’ll use them to death and will then go for another producer like Yuki or something like that.

12) Do you have any other hobbies?
Besides sewing, blogging is one of my time consuming hobbies, but I also love to photograph.
